The Leitch DTS / DTD-2000N Introduction

The Leitch system mainly consists of a pair of rack mount, metal encased units. The descrambler    measures approximately 1.75 X 19 inches and the scrambler measures 3.5 X 19 inches.

Video signal levels are 1 volt peak-to-peak (p-p) and the audio level 0dBm and terminated  conventional impedances of 75 ohms and 600 ohms. Both system gains are at unity with the field  time and line waveform distortion of 1% or better. At 1 kHz the total harmonic distortion equals  1.4% or less, and the audio signal-to-noise ratio measures at least 70dB (decibels) and video  frequencies extending from DC to 4.5 MHz.

This scrambling system does use the National Bureau of Standards Data Encryption Standard Algorithm  which features very high security. Both portions, video & audio are digitized through fast analog-to-digital converters (A/D). The video portion is randomly processed as audio is sampled and coded.
